The reflection after watching the movie “Saving Private Ryan”
The first 30 minutes of the movie is the scene about Normandy Invasion. The director frankly revealed how cruel, horrible, and unbearable the war is as well as the painful one soldier must face on battlefield. The plot also reminds me of Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey which the author elaborated the scene by the power of words. However, both of the producers created the truth of reality that wars brought about. Although the end of this movie implies the exultant victory in one country, it does not narrate in detail how long should one country be recovered and how long do people need to get rid of the trauma brought by the war in their deepest heart.

The reflection after watching the movie “Changeling”
After finishing watching this movie, I surfed the Internet in order to know more detail about this event and the background of the murderer. Frankly speaking, it is really hard for me to recover while knowing how miserable the mother suffered and the murderer’s unusual family. (The killer’s grandmother stated that the murderer was the result of incest committed by her husband against their daughter. She also stated that as a child, the murderer was sexually abused by the entire family.) I strongly recommended this movie, and if you want to pursue the topic further, please check on the website: http://www.wretch.cc/blog/kisswatch/11914579.

The reflection after watching the movie “Revolutionary Road”
The story is about a married couple. Both of them are looking forward to living a noble life and had a sudden impulse to decide to move to Paris. As soon as they began to spread this news to their neighbors and finish package all the luggage, both of them are facing new challenges-the man had a chance to be promoted and the woman is pregnant. While the man insists on having a baby, the woman decides to have an abortion by using hoses. They blaze with anger and of course decide to live in their hometown as usual. In the end, after the woman has an abortion, she died of excessive bleeding.
Unlike the Chinese translation “the tour of true love”, this movie is totally not about a love story but a tragedy which caused by an unsuitable couple. I have learned some lessons about the way to deal with marital difficulties which is that you have to trust each other no matter what happens and always communicate when misunderstandings arise.

What kinds of business I will probably do in the future
My school will be located on the outskirt of town. The reason why I am choosing that place is because the city is a place full of noise and pollution which will not make students focus on their classes. Furthermore, suburban area is easy for parents to park their cars.
I will interview each applicant for the job individually and let them teach on the stage for 30 minutes. Finally, I will choose the teachers who possess the qualities of creative, flexible, optimistic and humorous. Each of the qualities has its functions. Creativity means one person thinks critically and does not always talk about the same old cliché. Flexible means one teacher knows how to face different kinds of students and educate them appropriately. Optimistic is a necessary quality not only to a teacher but all of the people in the world. He who always thinks the bright side of one thing can make students think positive unobtrusively and imperceptibly. Humorous person can make the phenomenon become much fun and interesting.
The way that I promote my cram school is to promote myself first. Before opening one cram school, I will gain as many experiences as I can. In other word, I will make myself reliable and specialized. For example, try to persuade parents how many times I successfully change one person’s life, build their confidence, and how professional on education I am. This cruel society always likes some superficial things. To gain people’s trust, I will convince them of my enthusiasm, and professional skill for education.
Students are encouraged to attend to all classes. They must learn the three main subjects which I consider as necessary knowledge to enter this society. Each of the subjects will be charged $2400 a month. And if you want to take all of four classes, it will be charged $8500 a month. More than two people join the classes can get a discount. Parents are totally welcomed to join our classes and it is for free. They can learn some useful knowledge with their kids and also supervise their children. I will make my classroom a bright and clean place which sunshine can directly beam the environment.
I always believe that the key point to create a successful business is the ability of persuasion. For example, you have to produce a convincing slogan, advertisement, and your personal image. So if I am going to make a profit by opening a cram school, I will make any effort on advertising any field, which includes the environment, the qualities of teacher, the methods I use on education and the ability about me. Maybe it needs a long time to make profit from my cram school, but I think a successful business is the one which is sustainable.

The definition of good parents
The first period is infancy and childhood which children’s age is between 0 to 12 years old. In this duration of time, children are influential by their parents and surroundings. Children are good at imitating and they desire encouragements. They might be fragile seemingly but this is the important period for them to form personality, build confidence, and develop talents and skills. In my opinion, good parents should take care of their children in an attentive and intensive way. When I was in my childhood, I remembered my parents let me learn versatile skills, including sports, arts, languages, and musical instruments and I can hardly forget any of them until now. After growing up, I am interested in plenty of things in different fields. Moreover, they let me go to kindergarten and elementary school independently. They did care about my grades but not in a stern and forced way. So I can delightfully develop my advantages and what I am interested in. I appreciate the way my parents taught me which makes me become a self-controlled person.
The second period is adolescence and the age is between 13 to 18 years old. In this period, youths are influenced mostly by their peers and they rebel their parents frequently. Youths often put the emphasis on developing their friendships instead of focusing on academic studying or caring about family. In this period, people show the great differences on both mentality and body. And youths yearn for getting rid of restricting by their parents. Thus parents are facing great difficulties on education in this period. In my viewpoint, parents should stop strictly disciplining their children otherwise children will run away from them. Moreover, adults should still teach their children how to differentiate right or wrong things and let youths do what they want without restraint. I remembered that I did change a lot in this period, too. I cared only about my friends and seldom studied. I also came home late which made my parents started to worry about my future. But after this period, I introspected and changed myself spontaneously. I felt grateful to both of my parents since they did not scold me harshly.
The third period is the adulthood, which is above 18 years old. Since normal adults can act regularly, parents should be democratic to their children. Parents should give their children pertinent suggestions and right direction instead of interfering within their decision in this period. For example, my parents do not exhibit any of my activities after I entered university. On the contrary, they gave me the freedom toward what I want. Their education method makes me become independent, self-motivated and confident person.
Consequently, no matter what methods do parents use, they should not forget to educate their children with the passion of love. The passion of love means parents should accompany their children when they felt frustrated, concern with their daily life, and interact with them as much as they can. Bringing up a child has always been a tough issue. Only knowing one child thoroughly that parents know the suitable and appropriate way to educate their children.

Different Generations
In this week, I will discuss the topic about our generation and our parents' generation with my classmates. So I would like to share my thoughts here with you.
One generation is value by its distinguishing feature all the while. We can apparently discover some unique thoughts, actions, and events in a particular era. For example, in the United States, there is a term called Generation X . The label was chosen because people consider it a "Reactive" or "Nomad" generation. The older generations generally have negative perceptions of Reactive generations—whose members tend to be pragmatic and perceptive, savvy but amoral, more focused on money than on art. After generation X is generation Y which is known as the Millennial Generation or Generation Next. Generation Y is generally signified by an increased use and familiarity with communications, media, and digital technologies.
In Taiwan, because of the multicultural history background, the older generation shows significant differences between the new generations. By the end of the 1949, when the Communists controlled almost all of China, the KMT retreated to Taiwan with 2 million people. In the 1970s, the president, Chiang Ching-kuo launched the "fourteen major construction projects", the "ten major construction projects " and the "Twelve New Development Projects" which contributed to the "Taiwan Miracle." His accomplishments give Taiwan a 13% growth rate, $4,600 per capita income, and the world's second largest foreign exchange reserves. However, now the unemployment rate is climbing, and there is an economical depression. This is t he worst financial crisis since the great depression in the 1930s.
Nowadays, with the innovations of new technology, each person owns a computer in and surfing the Internet can be a routine in our daily life. We not only absorb any kinds of information on the net but also share our own ideas with people all over the world. So the pace in this society becomes even faster than the old days and the people’s horizons are not restricted anymore when only staying in their home town. Furthermore, people can share their own thoughts to the public which includes some creative and critical ideas. So the public can pool the wisdom of the masses and then prosper our country. This method of sharing opinions keeps everyone exchanging their ideas promptly. One of the relative examples is the invention of Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia which allows anyone with professional knowledge to edit the web page. This useful, convenient, and instant tool becomes so popular in recent years. While people have some questions toward an event or professional knowledge, they usually check out some information on this website. This kind of contributions makes any opinion flow between individuals. Thus, I will regard this trend makes the new generation a fast pace one and any kinds of thoughts gained wide currency immediately. On the contrary , since Confucianism is considered as a country religion, the older generation put the emphasis on their family in stead of enjoying other leisure activities. One of the apprentices of Confucius, Mencius, carried Confucius’ ideas further. He mentioned that whether parents are doing right or wrong things, children should not disobey their parents. In my opinion, this thought seems ridiculous. But children in the new generation do not have any respect to their parents. All the children want from me is money. If they do not get what they want, they will abuse their parents or even kill them. According to the statistics provided by the ministry of the interior, we can see that people between thirties and forties suffer from domestic violence, and the news recently also implies that domestic violence is increasing fiercely. T his phenomenon seldom occurred in the older generation. The idea of Filial piety influenced the Chinese legal system: a criminal would be punished more harshly if the culprit had committed the crime against a parent. Thus, in older generation, defying parents is a crime for which one deserves to die ten thousands deaths. Of course, this phenomenon has its drawbacks, too. For example, Chen Chih Chung who is the son of the ex-president, Chen Shui Bian, helped his mother do money laundering. But he claimed that all he did is to obey his parents. Although Filial piety is important, it may make a child to not know how to differentiate the right or wrong things.
Because agriculture is the most important occupation all the while in China and Taiwan, people’s personality is influenced deeply by agriculture in the old days. Agriculture needs a wide variety of specialties and techniques, including ways to expand the lands suitable for plant rising, by digging water-channels and other forms of irrigation. And all of those works must be done by one person. People are not allowed to whine or we will not have sustenance. So agriculture makes farmers stay in one place to take care of their crops. They are not allowed to move from place to place and this circumstance leads them to live a steady life. One of the 100 most influential people in 2005, Malcolm, had done a research. The research talks about the differences between Asian kids and American kids. Asian kids are more successful at math because of cultural attitudes: persistence. In my opinion persistence is the only route to success not just at math but in every area. New generations seems cannot stay in one place finishing their jobs, but I think this is because they would like to experience difference things instead of following their parents’ hopes. For example, Lin Yu-Chun is the most famous singer recently. When he told to his father his dream, his father scorned at him and then said “stop dreaming”. Lin Yu-Chun did not change his mind and practice singing constantly. Now he is one of the most successful singers in the world.
The parents of the older generations have so many children and they’ve got to take care of their crops, most of us are good at organizing our life. People can do all the house work in their young age. The president of America psychological association, Robert Sternberg said this is called practical intelligence. Practical intelligence is the ability to adapt everyday life by drawing on existing knowledge and skills. However, the new generations cannot solve all the problems by themselves and overcome any obstacles. I think their parents should take all of the responsibilities. The new generations are so-called the strawberry generations is because they are well-protected when they were young. Adults should introspect first instead of blaming their children.
In my opinion, every generation should take all the criticism because one generation is value by their character. Consequently, each generation owns their distinguishing characteristics which signify the richness and the prosperity of a country. Having the dedications of all different groups in an era means a nation is gaining their special cultural heritage. In my point of view, we are remaining a historical trait in our epoch which means all of us are creating our unique history. Whether the trend in a generation is appropriate or not, they are definitely the connection between the human being. All of us must face them and accept them in our whole life. Hence, every generation should be elated to have their culture also to enhance and glorify their extraordinary qualities.

The reflection after watching the movie “The Secret Life of bees”
The story describes a girl who suffered from a guilt she made unconsciously when she was four years old. She killed her mother by a gunshot. During the period of her childhood, she lived with her father. And she had to endure her father’s moody, violent and obstinate personality. However, there is a black woman who took care of her in a gentle and cordial way. Since this story happened in the 1960s which is an era of the black people who were treated unfairly, this black woman also humiliated by the residents. The little girl decided to run away with the black woman from this miserable place to find somewhere only love and peace exist.
This movie concerns the topic about family love, friendship, believes and race. After finishing watching this movie, I kept thinking about all sets of relationships in today’s society. I realized that any kinds of relationship needed to be managed carefully by the passion of LOVE. Consequently, each of us should not underestimated our important status to others and always remember to express our passionate affection to the people we care.

Autobiography
My Life Begins – Introduction
I was born on the 12th of December, 1988, in Kaohsiung city. My parents named me Yen Li-Yuan, and Lillian is my English name. There are five members in my family. I am the oldest and I have two sisters. My mom and dad pay a lot of attention to our education. They encourage me to develop my talents also to learn many useful skills, so I have lots of interests and I'm enthusiastic to learn new things. I’m now a student in Chung Hsing University and I double major in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and the Department of Chinese Literature. Since I entered this university, I have persisted in my studies in order to achieve good results. While it wasn’t easy to be the best in my class, I pushed myself hard to keep up a good job. In addition to academic learning, I also get a part-time job as a tutor every semester. By teaching Chinese composition and basic English, I can learn more about communicating with different kinds of people as well as strengthen my social skills. Furthermore, I can express my thoughts with a clear presentation. Interested in learning languages, I would like to become an interpreter or a translator in my future. Although it is still a long way to go, I devote every effort to the pursuit of my dream.
Rome Was Not Built In a Day – My Personality
I am an independent person. Since my parents divorced when I was twenty years old, I have got a sense of responsibility to give my younger sisters and both of my parents a better life. Studying in a place away far from my hometown, I have learned to organize my life so well that my parents never worry about my studies, livelihood and relationship. If I have the honor to become a student of Czech Technical University in Prague, I am confident that I am able to manage my life and study there. Because I am heartily in love with leaning English as well as knowing western customs, I would like to use language proficiently. Therefore, I chose many practical English learning classes in order to acquire many functional skills. In those classes, I also found myself addicted to many other cultures. For instance, one of those classes provides us with a lot of foreign information by watching CNN or BBC. With that, I enjoy absorb different foreign cultures and widen my field of vision.
Art Is Long, Life Is Short – My Talents and Skills
I have developed lots of talents and skills since I was a child. When I was in primary school, I joined the school basketball, tug-of-war, and track-and-field teams. And I was also a member of the school chorus. I enjoy taking part in various kinds of activities and trying new things. Besides the sports events, I’ve learned piano for more than ten years and can play guitar. In high school, I participated in the basketball and chorus clubs. In addition, I was a student of English Talent Class. I had participated in many English competitions. For example, I have got the second prize in the school speech competition and I was recommended to attend the city speech competition. By those experiences, I am not afraid of facing any difficulties in any circumstances. Instead, I will overcome those obstacles before they get worse.
After entering the university, I have become a member of the department volley ball team. By engaging in these activities, I learn not only the special kills in certain fields but also know how to get along with people. Nowadays, I believe that although academic studies are important, learning more useful skills and get information relevant to our daily life is even more important.
Little By Little and Bit By Bit – My Enthusiasm about Languages Learning
I use three languages to talk with my family members. I speak Mandarin with my sisters, Taiwanese with my dad and Hakka with my mom. Since my father is a businessman, I often go abroad with him. So I can speak a little Cantonese and Szechuan in my adolescence. As for my interest in English, I think it is because that I luckily met a Canadian teacher. He is strict to me and teaches me English in a really different way. For instance, he lets me read famous English novels and watch classical movies such as Gone with the Wind, My Fair Lady, Pride and Prejudice, and so on. I can learn the conversations and pronunciations from these western movies and also obtain a lot of interesting and useful knowledge that isn’t taught at school. Besides, I learn Japanese from Japanese soap operas by myself. It demonstrates that I do have the talent to learn a language, and I’m sure I have a great interest in it. In the university, I also choose Japanese and French classes in order to learn more useful languages. If I have a chance to enter Czech Technical University in Prague, I have another valuable chance to learn different culture. That will absolutely enrich my life.
Where There Is a Will, There Is a Way
I am an outgoing person and can always stick to my dream. To me, English has become part of my daily life rather than merely a school subject. I regard Chung Hsing University as my ideal place to improve my English skills as well as to explore foreign cultures. This world has been globalizing and I will certainly be part of this international system after graduating from college. I do need to have correct and sharp world views. Thus I expect the Czech Technical University in Prague to enlarge my vision and enhance my knowledge. In short, I'm firmly convinced that the Czech Technical University in Prague is definitely the most desirable choice I have ever made.

My study plan in Czech Technical University
Study Plan
If I have the honor to be admitted to the Czech Technical University in Prague, I will devote myself to polishing my communication skills in other fields and to absorb knowledge on different areas. My study plan is as follows.
At The Current Stage
If I have the honor to be admitted to the Czech Technical University, I will make the maximum use of my time. During the academic term, I will take good care of my university courses. Besides, I’ll focus on training my listening and speaking ability by watching movies and English TV news, listening to ICRT and English songs, and reading English newspapers in order to communicate in foreign countries. Finally, I will give more attention to international news and seek access to useful knowledge in order to prepare myself for the advanced study in CTU.
Knowledge Is Power
I will apply for the Faculty of civil Engineering in the Czech Technical University for one semester. Browsing the courses which are available to the exchange students, I would like to choose some useful courses and those which are relevant to my interests.
Since I am interested in learning languages, I will definitely choose the course to learn Czech. As the proverb says, “While in Rome, do as the Romans do!” In other words, it is important for us to get used to the environment where we live. Therefore, the first step for me is to learn the residents’ spoken language as soon as possible. I understand that if I hope to have a better connection with the local students, it is necessary to familiarize myself with the language of Czech. In addition, Czech is one of the languages which I am fascinated with. If I am able to communicate in Czech, my life would be certainly full of joy.
Second, I will choose the “Communication Skills” course. It will offer me various lectures on English oral presentation, English composition, and non-verbal communication. Furthermore, it is important to learn the communication skills. How to exchange and express our ideas in a proper, effective way is a significant ability to me.
Third, since my father is a business man, I have been gradually influenced by his profession. So I would like to choose Business Economics which I am also interested in. This course is about some basic knowledge of economic, such as the legal forms of businesses, fundamentals of the management, basic accounting principles, accounting statements and their structure, etc. I am sure that it is useful for me to understand some current issues about business.
Fourth, I would love to know about the culture in Czech, so I will choose the course named Czech culture. This course has greatly seized my attention because of its introduction to Czech customs, history, movies, and classical literacy. Besides academic learning, I take the understanding of Czech social conventions as one of the important things.
In addition to my studies, I will also attend some extracurricular activities. There are a number of occasions where the international students can meet and share their own culture. In this way, I would love to behave myself as a representative of Taiwan and would be proud of introducing my country to foreign students.
Perspective for the Future
After completing the courses in Czech and returning to my own university, I will continue my study in English. With one half of a year’s training in Czech, I believe that I will be more determined in pursuing what I really want. With one half of a year’s training in Czech, I believe that I will be more determined in pursuing what I really want.
I sincerely hope that I can be admitted to study in the Czech Technical University in Prague so that I can have the chance to realize this study plan.

Religions in Taiwan
With the innovations of technology, there are more and more people believe in what they see. And these supernatural believes are considered as a kind of fantastic talk. In addition, new generations practice religions because of influences of their parents.
In Taiwan the Constitution provides for freedom of religion, and the authorities generally respect the rights. There was no change in the status of respect for religious freedom by the authorities. And there were not any societal abuses or discrimination based on religious belief or practice.

Children are influenced by their peers or by their parents.?
In my opinion, a child’s success in school and in life can be both influenced by peers and by parents. While a child can imitate actions, they can learn something useful from their classmates. For example, by a constructive competition, pupils can find out their drawbacks in learning. If two pupils are at the same level, they can do more efforts against each other. That will lead to a win-win situation. Besides, when a child faces some obstacles which cannot be solved by their peers easily, they will ask their parents for help. For instance, a youth wants to learn something but he/she has a financial problem. The one he/she will look for help is their parents. Or if they were frustrated when learning a new thing, parents can give some advices instead of mocking. Consequently, I think both peers and parents influence children directly.

The influences of television and movies
We can not deny the mass media have sprung in nowadays society. We get the information and knowledge from them in the easiest way. Most people got television in their home and watching movies is a popular way for entertainments.
Turning on the TV, we can apparently discover that there are variety kinds of TV programs. First of all, we watch news everyday. However, we see many negative issues happen in every news program such as violent issues, political conflicts, and scandals all over the country. On the other hand, we scarcely watch them broadcasting the things which have positive meaning. No matter children and adults, after watching them, most people will consider bad thing as normal things which may cause their aberrant behavior. Such as the artist who took drug, was sent into prison then released soon. He apologized and then took the drug again. People will consider taking drugs is not a big deal. The only punishment is to be imprisoned. Then children and adults imitate.
A renowned Japanese detective cartoon Conan has spread through out all over the world. These series of movies have many spectacular plots. What if people imitate it, what kinds of consequences would be? The news once disseminated that people kidnapped by using the same way as the plot in Conan. They committed crime unwittingly. People cannot make any excuses for their behavior which is right or wrong. Things happen like this will be the worst influences by the movies.
Thanks for some TV programs and movies; we can have different kinds of entertainments. While they are full of fun, we can not ignore their disadvantages which have a bad impact on our society. Some announcements need to be declared and people should be well-educated. Many things influence us in an unconscious way that we must pay attention to it and also watch our behavior at all the times.

Should children learn English as soon as possible?
Technically speaking, I agree with this children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they can. But first of all, children who learn who learn a foreign language must not forget to learn their mother language well.
In nowadays society, many people regard English as the most important language to learn. Some Parents only enhance their children’s English ability, but don’t ask them to strengthen their mother language. Thus, children not only use Chinese in a wrong way but also fail to learn English well. That is a big taboo which parents attend to the superficial but ignore essentials. That is to say, I agree with learning English when they were young, but the major premise is that they should learn mother language correctly.
The reason why I agree with this method is that, I know the influence of the environment. No one can refuse the impact of environment. For example, you live in England for a while; you will use British English and have the accent. We know that there exist a significant difference between American English and British English. These differences depend on what kinds of environment people were surrounded. Apparently, if children were in a whole-English environment, they can easily learn English without pressure. I think that parents can let their children to be in touch with English when they were young, so their children will get used to English. Don’t force them to remember some things, but let them learn English in the carelessly environment which is the best way to me when leaning English.

My opinion toward education system in Taiwan
First of all, people can choose as many credits as they want in the past days, yet we have to pay extra money to have more than 25 credits now. This system is definitely an obstacle for students. And it also indicates that people with money can learn more things. I think in the university, we need to have the same opportunities to absorb different kinds of knowledge. And we should be open-minded toward learning. This method will limit our motion in polishing our own ability and also weaken people’s competitive strength. Thus, universities should encourage students to learn more as they can, instead of obstructing students from academic learning.
In Taiwan, some of the schools fit a large amount of students in one class. And then the teaching method is one teacher lectures, students listen, and at last they have exams. This spoon-feeding way of teaching makes students have no skill of critical thinking. Furthermore, it may also hinder one youth’s creative thoughts. In my point of view, we should train each student how to think critically and originality. Teacher should not only lecturer in the class but train students to discuss about professional topics and collaborate with each other. The way to attain this goal is to minimize the students as possible as we can in one class, so teachers and students have more interaction as well as having a one on one conference. Second, we can find out that skipping classes may be a trend among students in the universities. While having a sense of responsibility is required in many circumstances, absence is definitely not allowed.
Third, take our universities for example; we should expand the fields in different areas to all students. Students are obligated to choose general knowledge courses which offer some basic knowledge on vary fields. However, it is not until last year that the courses become more attractive. This is a big progress compared to the past. The course is not restricted to a particular domain anymore, but much closer to human nature and also much more useful. For example, there is a lecture class called the “entrepreneur lecture course”. This course invites some famous industrialists to share their experiences on business which makes students learn some practical knowledge instead of remembering theoretical texts. Our school can deliver more courses which can be useful for students after stepping into this society.
In our country, students are like the puppets manipulated by adults. We can hardly have our own opinions or it will be considered as impolite. I think this is why Taiwanese students lacking of the ability of leadership. Because they have got no chance to express their own feeling. The education system should be reformed again and should not be ignored by the government. Consequently one country’s future prosperity depends on those well-educated students.

Different types of occupations
First of all, the former type of groups seem really important to our society and they cannot be ignored totally by people. For instance, we have lots of trades, markets, through our daily life. Not only deals about some trivial matters, but almost any activities need the support of investment. There are commercial programs, commercial banks, commercial advertisements exist anywhere. Apparently, our country’s prosperity is evaluated by business; also the government stresses the importance on foreign trade, such as import and export. Not merely Taiwan but almost many strong nations set their goal toward capitalism. That’s why in my country, doing a business is still a predominant trend. Second, the inventions of new technology change with each passing days. People cannot live without technological products such as computers, cell phones…etc. So they purchase a lot of merchandise in order to follow other people steps. I do not disagree with this action; instead, I am really proud of my country. However, of course both managers of these careers grab other people’s attention as well as get much fund from government. On the contrary, the later types of occupations are easily forgotten by most of us.
The workers of art, music, and humanity normally make 120% of efforts and then get 20% of feedbacks. I think it is because of the trend of capitalism makes people care about only money and themselves. In my opinion, artists, musicians, and people involved in humanities seem unnecessary to our society; however, just like you walk by a bakery, you will be attracted by the “smell” of bread instead of the advertisement or the shop sign. The “smell” of bread means one person’s inherent beauty which cannot be fabricated by other artificial forces. Furthermore, inherent beauty will also change one person’s temperament. Artists, musicians, and humanitarians devote in these accomplishments. Instead of pursuing fame and wealth, this group dedicate themselves into arts and beauties. For example, many legislators fight against each others in legislative council, and they also humiliate each other by saying rude words. This phenomenon is a strong evidence of lacking innermost cultivation which means the cultivation of their “hearts”. Thus, in my opinion, we must not ignore the importance of those art workers. If we can have the sense of appreciating a masterpiece, we can see the bright sight of one person. If we applaud for musicians, we can mold our mentality into a kind-hearted person by watching their performance. If we face some difficulties in our lives, some humanity workers can probably be our mentors. Last but not least, unless we have the healthiness body and mind we can make our nation stronger. In my observation, people seldom notice some masterpieces in artistic fields. People would rather use the money to purchase a well-known brand. So this is our government’s responsibility to promote the beauty of arts and music. The government should provide grant to support those workers, since they are disadvantaged minority in our society. In addition, there will probably become a vicious circle when people discover that if they pursue arts, music, humanities, they will fail. So more and more people will refuse doing that and finally our nation will become a desert of art.
Also Chung Hsing University should do the same thing, too. Since we are famous about our technology of agriculture, the manager of our school doesn’t make any efforts on the field of art. For example, the departments of liberal arts need to share one building and resources. I remembered once when we asked our manager to build one department for us, he just said something sarcastic. He gave us a snobbish attitude, saying unless we dedicate more to our university can we get more funding. I think one university should not be focus on only one field, and each person should have the same opportunity to learn what he wants.
Consequently, the groups of the art works are definitely necessary to our society. Once the government wants to strengthen this country, they should spend extra time and money to develop this part.

Staying or Leaving
In my opinion, when people contact with different countries, they can have an exquisite taste about many experiences, cultures, communities which we may not observe and learn only staying in a particular country. For example, if we take a trip to Egypt, we can see Sphinx, Pyramids, and some unique sculptures. Those historic interests represent one extraordinary culture. People can find out how powerful human being is and realize those valuable spots cannot be replaced and each history cannot be recreated. However, traveling to a new place means that you should rebuild your new relationship. Moreover, one nation has their distinctive conventions and traditions. We may not get used to a new environment and which will probably contribute to some misunderstandings to a certain culture. Thus, complying again and again with one country’s customs is what a visitor must do. When people decide to stay at their sweet home town, they have more chances to discover some charming spots. I agree with that each country has some fascinating customs which needs people to discover meticulously. Furthermore when you travel all around, you must farewell with your family and friends. I think keeping in touch constantly with relatives is what a family member should do.
Some people may say they can find themselves’ drawback during experiencing in different cultures. I won’t disagree with this comment. Besides broadening our horizons when traveling, we may meet some obstacles, too. Like Odyssey in Homer’s epic Odysseus. Odyssey is an arrogant, egoist, shrewd person. He cannot perceive any failure when he is on his way home. After conquering Troy, he can return home safely but he irritates the sea god Poseidon. After hurting Poseidon’s son, his voyage lasts ten years. When he is almost surrenders to those obstacles, he dressed himself as a beggar. Dressing like a beggar doesn’t match his personality. So I think during the period of navigating home, he knows what he should change. The other example is that, in some European countries, the youths take a gap year as the way to prove they can dedicate to their society. For example, England Prince Harry popularized Africa as a Gap Year destination when he volunteered in South Africa in 2004. By experiencing inferior conditions country, people become mature. Nevertheless, going abroad is not the only way for people to know themselves’ drawbacks. If one person has the resolution to turn over a new leaf, he will regard one failure as a valuable lesson. He can definitely accept any kinds of judgments instead of being as stubborn as a mule. In addition, if you choose to take a trip by going abroad will absolutely cost you a lot of money. And I think this kind of grand tour is only accessed by some rich people. Why not just calm yourself down first, and have some introspection while staying in your hometown.
Last but not least, I agree with one remarkable Chinese philosopher, Zhuangzi says that the top state of minds is pursuing a state just like a nature. The nature is peaceful, tranquil, plentiful and joyful. People can realize this state by experiencing different countries which also includes staying their home town. By experiencing different culture, people find themselves complete. Instead of pursuing wealth and fame but absorbing different culture’s baptizing is the final goal when traveling around. So I understand that each person has a different way to fulfill his or her life. No matter in what kinds of circumstances, people should find their suitable way to be connected to the world. That means we should be open-minded. We know that this world changes in every minute. No only grabbing present time, memorizing past days, but also taking a broad view to the unpredictable future. How can we put these into practice? I think the only method is to experience surroundings attentively and receive different customs selflessly.

The New Begining of This Semester
Therefore, I have got 28 credits, two part-time jobs at the same time in this new semester. I remember that in the last semester, when approaching to the final exam, I cannot sleep well. This was a really special experience, because, I felt my spirit was gone. My brain was full of English vocabularies, classical Chinese and none of them were the thoughts of my own. That is, I was totally insane.
Nevertheless, I retrospect myself during the winter vacation. I guess I still didn’t get the right point about time arrangement, so that would eventually become regrettable consequences.
This semester, I will not stop pushing myself to the peak on the academic study. Furthermore more, I will supervise myself if I have done well on the time management. Besides, I’ll focus on training my listening and speaking ability by watching movies and English TV news, listening to ICRT and English songs, and reading English newspapers in order to polish my English ability and also do well on some English examinations.

Family configuration in Taiwan
I am going to give a further analysis about why Taiwan doesn’t have a Second Demographic Transition. Since Japanese occupied our country for several years, the death rate dropped because of the improvement of environmental conditions. After WW2, there are many grownups in this country, and their parents would choose one of them to live with. This fact results in more and more nuclear family after the war. However, we can’t ascertain that Taiwan is having a Second Demographic Transition only because of the increasing nuclear family. Because most of the parents still live with their children. That means that nowadays stem family is still the predominant family configuration in Taiwan. But by the end of 1980s, the procedure of family composing such as marry, companionate marriage, as well as family decomposing such as divorce, living separately has influenced the family configuration greatly all over the world. Whether Taiwan has a Second Demographic Transition doesn’t have a final conclusion. But there are much more factors to concern about what determine the family configuration in nowadays society.

Succes
I went to see a celebrity’s speech last week. He translated the series of Lord of the Ring. Since I am interested in translating, I attended to watch his performance seeing if I could get some useful knowledge from him. His name is Lucifer Chu. Actually he majored in Electrical Engineering which stunned me of his translating achievement. What’s more, he spent all his salary which is about 35,000,000 creating a website called OOPS (http://www.myoops.org/twocw/). Seeing his achievement, I wrote an e-mail to him asking about his accomplishment.
The first question I asked is how he translated the whole series of the novel because he was a non-English major student. The only word he replied is “Love”. I was wondering what he exactly meant as soon as I saw this reply. Then I realized that the Love he said is probably means enthusiasm, patience, optimistic and devoutness. The second question I asked is how he trained his speech ability. He said that this question is much easier than the first one. Because after you practiced for one million time, you will know what happened. The second reply is as a proverb “practice makes perfect”. We have heard this phrase many times but seldom of us can really carry out practically.
Consequently, I surely learn some qualities and traits which a successful person should possess. In a nutshell, a successful person has a different “attitude” toward learning one thing. So I think a person who is devoting in one thing and finishing it completely can be regarded as a successful person.
